Missouri Lake Summer Road Trip

Road Trip Buddies

Taking a trip to a lake is a great way to make a summer memorable and cool off at the same time. Missouri is home to a number of interesting and lesser-known lakes. Fortunately, we’re willing to share. We here at Gateway Buick GMC know of a Missouri lake summer road trip that you won’t want to miss out on!

Mark Twain Lake

Located 20 miles southwest of Hannibal, Mark Twain Lake boasts 18,000 acres of water and takes up a total of 54,000 acres. Those looking for a great place to explore nature, experience life on the lake, or find a new activity need look no further than Mark Twain Lake.

The lake and surrounding land is home to plenty of campsites, trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas. There’s even hunting land for those looking for some adrenaline. The lake typically features calm waters that make it perfect for excursions in smaller watercraft, such as sailboats, kayaks, and canoes. Visitors who wish to fish will find bass, catfish, and much more wandering the lake waters.

Surrounding the lake is home to a number of interesting animals, including beavers and bald eagles. Much of the land remains undeveloped, making it one of the best ways in the country to get closer to nature!

All of us at Gateway Buick GMC near St. Louis, MO hope you have a road trip this summer!
