Could an Opel Astra-inspired Buick be coming to the U.S.?

General Motors has a long history of bringing in inspiration from its Opel brand in Europe. This history began with the Saturn brand, and it looks like it’s not going to stop any time soon.

According to Car and Driver, the Buick brand could be receiving a model inspired by the Opel Astra.  This bodes well for Buick, since the Astra is practically brimming with high-tech features typically seen in more expensive cars. In fact, the Astra’s tagline is, “It annoys the upper class.”

Currently, the Astra is offered as a five-door hatchback and a station wagon, but a sedan and a coupe model are expected to follow. It most recently debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show, showcasing its luxurious interior and stylish exterior.

There’s no denying that an Opel Astra-inspired Buick makes sense, especially because Buick is focused on branding itself as a luxury carmaker. Along with the Astra-inspired model, there are also some new rumors about the tiny Opel Adam coming to the United States as a Buick as soon as 2018.
